YES to Wisdom

James 1:5

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault,
and it will be given to you.

Holy God, the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
We offer praise and honor to you
as the all-knowing and loving God.

 Thank you, God,
that your YES is the assurance that your wisdom is always available to us.
When we face times of trials, tribulations, tests, and adversities,
we need your wisdom to guide us through in those times of trial.
We pray for your discernment:
whether our current challenges are what you ask us to trust you to remove by faith,
or for us to endure patiently in our faith.

Lord, should we command our mountains to be cast into the sea
by our faith in your miraculous power?
Or should we allow patience to work its perfect results
by enduring what seems to be a trial in faith, by your grace--?

Today, God, this is our plea: we ask for your wisdom
because we are limited in knowledge.
We encounter questions that textbooks cannot answer.
As mere humans, our best guesses and our earthly understanding
lacks your divine prudence.
Our human intelligence pales in comparison to your infinite wisdom.

So, God, we're asking for your wisdom
because your word says, “Let him ask of God…”
because you give wisdom generously without reproach.
We turn to you, because your wisdom is available now to us
through your Holy Spirit.

Almighty God, our prayer opens your doors to divine wisdom
that guides both scholarly pursuits and cares of life.
In the name of Jesus, by faith, we ask for your wisdom today.
Give us insight beyond our own understanding
and guide our decisions with your clarity.

Through the voice of your Holy Spirit,
it is in Christ's name we pray,
Amen.
