YES to Courage
2 Timothy 1:7
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid,
but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
God, our strong deliverer
and the giver of every good and perfect gift,
we thank you today for your unfailing presence
and for the power of your Holy Spirit, who dwells in us.
As Paul encouraged Timothy, reminding him
that you have not given us the spirit of fear,
but of power, love, and a sound mind,
we stand on that same promise today.
God, we know that you know the fears we carry:
the fear of failure, the fear of inadequacy,
the unknown, the fear of disappointing others,
and even sometimes fear
of stepping into divine assignments.
And yet your word confronts our fears
with your YES to courage.
So today, in the name of Jesus Christ,
and in this year of your YES,
we reject fear in all its disguises
and declare your courage over our minds,
our ministries, our families, our academics,
and every divine assignment.
Holy Spirit, stir up the gift within us,
ignite holy boldness, strengthen our hearts,
and steady our spirits
so that we can walk forward with your confidence
rooted in your power, not our own.
Remind us every day
that courage is not the absence of fear,
but the presence of faith.
Live in us today.
Empower us to stand firm in Christ,
to speak truth and love, to help endure hardship,
and to trust you every step of the way.
In the name of Jesus,
today we say yes to courage,
yes to confidence,
yes to your power, yes to your love,
and yes to a sound mind.
Think within us. Move in us.
Help us to stand in these trying times.
In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
