YES to Identity
1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, God’s special possession,
that you may declare the praises of him
who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
God of our identity and purpose,
thank you that we know who we are in Christ.
We exalt you for calling us out of darkness
and into your marvelous light.
Thank you that according 1 Peter 2:9,
we are chosen generation, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, a people belonging to you.
We glorify you because our identity is not defined
by our past, our failures, our trauma,
our status or circumstances.
But it is defined by your declaration over our lives,
and because we have been born of your Spirit.
You've sealed us until the day of redemption
and we know who we are in you.
And we thank you today.
We say yes to your identity in Christ
as we abide in him, the true vine.
Forgive us when we embrace lies about who we are:
lies spoken by the devil.
The “Accuser’s” lies spoken by others.
Lies whispered by enemies,
or lies formed out of our own insecurity.
God, silence every voice that contradicts your word.
God, in our spiritual ears, keep reminding us
that we are chosen, bought with a price,
valued, anointed
and set apart for your Kingdom purpose.
Holy Spirit, help us walk like chosen people,
think like royal priests,
live like a holy nation
and minister like people who belong to God
and have experienced the new birth in Jesus Christ.
Let our identity in Christ stabilize us when we're unsure.
Empower us, heal us, and propel us forward.
We say yes to who you say we are in Jesus Christ!
