YES to Endurance
Colossians 1:11
…being strengthened with all power according to his
glorious might so that you may have great endurance
and patience…
Almighty God and Sustainer of our souls,
we come to you with gratitude
because you are the One
who strengthens us with all power,
according to your glorious might,
so that we may have great endurance and patience
as we run this race.
Today, we confess that often we grow weary mentally,
emotionally, spiritually, academically,
and even physically.
We get tired. We become discouraged,
overwhelmed, and even tempted to quit.
And some days we do quit.
Forgive us for quitting, and
thank you for taking us back.
Thank you, God, for providing us your endurance.
That is not something we manufacture ourselves,
but it's something that you impart to us.
Guide your endurance in us!
So today we thank you for providing us
with your yes to endure the course of this year.
We ask for supernatural endurance,
for strength in our arms when they hang low,
for lifting our heads when burdens get heavy
and the tasks before us get difficult.
Raise our spirits when adversity rises against us.
Empower us to run our race with patience,
to finish your assignments well in life and ministry,
and to trust you in every season
despite any hardships.
Produce in us only your fruitfulness:
the endurance that remains steadfast
when circumstances shake, when doors close,
when people walk away, when pressure mounts
and when our path becomes unclear.
Holy Spirit, renew our strength
and anchor our souls in Jesus Christ.
We say yes to your endurance, yes to perseverance,
and yes to finishing strong.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
